Learn to Play

If you're new to the game or want to improve your skills, you've come to the right place! For a casual beginner experience, we recommend attending one of our learn-and-play meetups. Our friendly club focuses on the Japanese variant, and we love helping beginners grow their skills.

In addition to our meetup, we offer introductory classes to help you take your first steps into the world of mahjong.  More than just a rules lecture, our classes are interactive experiences where you learn by doing. That means you'll be shuffling tiles and playing hands from the first session.  Small class sizes and personal attention from our experienced instructors will ensure all your questions are answered and you'll be ready to begin play in any major variant of mahjong, not just the Japanese rules.

This class is given when in demand, so please email us if you'd like to take it. Check back often or subscribe to our newsletter, as we'll be adding ruleset-specific courses as well as intermediate training soon!
